Thriving at Holy Rosary School – Letter from Head of School
Holy Rosary Matrics of 2025 score an average of 3.21 distinctions per candidate.
Dear School Community
In celebration of the Class of 2025!
It is not often that I am at a loss for words. Yet, as I reflect on the grit and tenacity displayed by each of the young women who sat for the Matric examinations at the end of last year, I am compelled to pause and acknowledge their remarkable journey.
The Class of 2025 made a profound impact on the culture and climate of our school. They fostered a strong sense of belonging and pride in HRS through the way in which they held themselves and one another accountable. They set a high standard for pupil involvement and consistently led by example. This spirit was especially evident at their final assembly, when the High School Hall reverberated with cheers and heartfelt well-wishes as we bade them farewell ahead of their final examinations.
Exceeding historical performance
That same spirit of commitment and dedication is now reflected in their results. I congratulate the Class of 2025 on achieving an outstanding set of academic outcomes. Their collective effort has distinguished them as the strongest-performing matriculation cohort in the school’s history. With a 100% Matric pass rate, a 100% Bachelor’s Degree pass rate, and 100% of pupils achieving an average above 60%, 21 pupils achieved a total average of above 80% and 20 above 70%. These young women have truly outdone themselves.
HRS has a proud tradition of academic excellence, and this year’s results reaffirm my belief in the abilities of our pupils and the dedication, academic rigour, and care shown by our staff. Each pupil’s journey is marked by a personal story, often one of challenge, self-doubt, perseverance, growth, and triumph.
When I reflect on the Class of 2025 as a whole, there is a powerful good news story to tell: 87.5% of pupils achieved a combined total of 180 distinctions, resulting in an impressive distinction rate of 3.21 per pupil. Three of our top achievers ranked in the top 1% of all IEB Candidates in Mathematics, Further Studies Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy, Mandarin and Business Studies. Our overall IT, Physical Sciences and Mathematics averages were 15% and 14% respectively, higher than the IEB average.
Expression of gratitude
Parents
We are deeply grateful to the parents of the Class of 2025 for their unwavering support of their daughters and of the school. Thank you for your encouragement, care, and commitment, not only to your own child, but to all the girls. At HRS, education is a collective endeavour, and I have witnessed how parents consistently uplift and motivate each pupil to do their very best. Through your partnership, you help us and the staff to build and sustain a strong culture of teaching and learning. You should be immensely proud of your daughters, and we look forward with anticipation to all that they will still achieve beyond school.
Staff
The year 2025 also marked the celebration of our 85th Jubilee. Throughout this milestone year, our staff remained committed to the founding mission of HRS. I extend my sincere thanks to every staff member who contributed to the success of the Class of 2025. You can be proud of their achievements. It is through your dedication and care, together with the steadfast leadership of Mrs Damhuis, her Deputies, and our Subject Heads, that I can reflect on a year that firmly sets us on a path of excellence in girls’ school education.
Thriving with God
Our 2025 theme, THRIVE, is beautifully embodied in the achievements of the Class of 2025. The sunflower, chosen as our symbol, represents a believer who steadfastly turns towards God, regardless of circumstance. The theme was grounded in the words of 2 Peter 3:18: “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.”
It is with this message of growth, faith, and perseverance that I wish the young women of the Class of 2025 every success as they step into the next chapter of their lives.
I encourage you to visit the school’s website to view the full results and to celebrate all our pupils who have excelled academically and in other areas of school life.
Congratulations once again to the Class of 2025 and their families.
Always look to the Star.
