Top 10 School’s Matric Results 2025

When the top schools’ matric results 2025 were released, Holy Rosary was listed as one of the Top 10 Private Girls’ Schools in South Africa.*

Media headlines often focus on the big things – distinctions, averages, fees and rankings.

While these achievements deserve celebration, there are powerful human stories behind every result – the stories of the pupils and the teachers who walked the journey alongside their girls, often quietly, patiently, and far beyond the classroom timetable.

At Holy Rosary School, we believe that matric success is not only measured in marks, but in growth, character, faith, and love for the community.

As our teachers uncover and nurture each girl’s God-given talents, each girl excels in her own way.

Here’s to all the moments that – big and small – led to our top 2025 matric results.

This article is dedicated to the Holy Rosary school teachers. We thank them for their service.

Londiwe’s Story: A Spirit of Helpfulness

Our Top Pupil in isiZulu, Londiwe Zwane is known to be kind and helpful.

She wasn’t happy at the first High School she attended previously, so she moved to Holy Rosary in Grade 9.

Londiwe says:

“In the Zulu class, my classmates would help each other with worksheets, with no beef; there was a spirit of helpfulness rather than competitiveness. Our teacher, Zodwa Magangane, was always willing to jump in and help you after school.

All the teachers were really so helpful and passionate; they never made me feel dumb and would reassure me whenever I got bad marks on a test.”

Her achievement reflects not only academic excellence, but also the nurturing of good character.

Bella’s Story: A Testament to Teacher Support

Bella Chang’s matric journey beautifully captures the spirit behind our results.

Arriving in Grade 8 unable to speak English, her schooling was interrupted by COVID when she had to go back to China for some time. On her return, she put in “a lot of effort” to learn everything in a new language – English.

The results?

Bella says:

“It was tough, but all the teachers were really patient and checked that I understood the lesson after each class.

Mrs Steyn, my Grade Tutor Teacher, helped me plan an exam time schedule.

All the teachers really cared and my Maths Teacher, Mrs Rodwell, even answered my questions during the holidays.”

Gina’s Story: I Was Completely the Opposite

Gina da Silva, a 2025 matriculant, recently told Radio Veritas” “I really, really enjoyed my school experience. I know some people can’t wait to get out. I was completely the opposite.”

Gina recommends:

Take part in everything. Always, every little thing. Don’t say, ‘Oh, no. I’m scared. I don’t want to start the sport.’ Just do it. It’s fun to participate in everything. You make new friends. You really get involved with the school and what they have to offer.”

“Studying throughout matric and giving every small test your best made finals much easier. Every time you are stressed, the school comes together to help you, you pray, and it really becomes a family to you.”

Don’t neglect God. A lot of people ask, how do you manage academics and sports? But nobody asks how you manage academic and your spiritual life. On busy weekends, still make time for church, still make time for God. And don’t always go to him during when you stress like, ‘oh, please help me with this.’ Always have gratitude.

“Holy Rosary instills values and morals into you and helps when you leave school – you go into the real world able to be the best version of yourself.”

Gina’s Mom, Charlotte, recommends:

“When you have a problem or meltdown, go to a teacher concerned and ask for help. Talk to the teachers. Not once in 22 years did a teacher turn [one of her children] away. They were just wonderful.”

The results?

Gina was aiming for three distinctions and says “it also came as a surprise for me when I saw all my other subjects above 70. I wasn’t expecting that. So, that was my shock.”

Gina was part of our 2025 Matric group, which achieved 3.21 distinctions / pupil.

Jaanki’s Story: A Triumph Over Chronic Illness

Jaanki Arora’s journey is an inspiration to us all – she proved that you can attain top results even when you don’t feel like working hard because you are struggling with a chronic illness.

Diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in Grade 10, Jaanki faced daily pain, fatigue, and frequent absences from school.

“When I used to write for even five minutes, my wrists would get inflamed, and it became too painful to move my fingers,” she shares.

Despite this, her teachers ensured she was never left behind and supported her academically.

“The journey has been rocky… I often had to miss school or simply couldn’t get out of bed because of the pain,” Jaanki explains.

Arthritis forced Jaanki to give up tennis as her body felt constantly fatigued, but she adapted by finding new ways to manage her health, such as yoga, walking, and maintaining a calm mindset to prevent stress-induced flare-ups.

The results?

Jaanki was the only recipient of the White Honours Blazer in 2025. To receive a pupil must achieve at least three Full Colours awards, be an elected leader, and display all-round excellence.

Everyday Heroes: The Teachers Behind the Top Schools Matric Results 2025

Behind every distinction is a teacher who gave more than what was asked, including:

As matric finals approached, relationships naturally deepened. Teachers became mentors and guardians, creating a space where girls felt safe to ask questions, admit uncertainty, and grow in confidence.

BUT …

Where Do Top Matric Results Begin?

Top schools matric results in 2025 do not begin in Grade 12.

They begin in Grade R.

Primary school teachers are often overlooked when matric results are celebrated, yet they lay the foundation on which everything else is built.

Matric success is the result of years of teaching, not a single academic year.

Pictured above: Some of our 2025 Matrics with Teacher Lisa Latré, who taught them in Grade R, with a new group of Grade R pupils.

The top schools matric results 2025 may be published once a year, but the impact of dedicated teachers lasts a lifetime.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Teachers – from Grade R through to Matric
